THEME 2: APPLICATION OF THE REGULATIONS

The European Directive on professional competence requires all active truck drivers to take code 95 periodic training at an accredited training centre.

Professional competence is a supplement to the driving licence.

Mandatory for all professional drivers with a licence of categories C and D.

The certificate of professional competence is indicated on the licence by code 95 for the relevant categories.

Periodic training every 5 years

  • The certificate of professional competence is valid for five years.
  • Each training earns you 7 credit points.
  • You choose 1 day (7 h) of training per year or 5 days in a row.
  • The holder has 5 years to complete 35 hours of periodic training to keep the certificate (code 95 on the licence).
  • Check the expiry date of your code 95 in box 12 of your licence!
  • Training recognised as vocational training for Flemish training leave (VOV) (VG-887-19)

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?

  • Since 10 September 2009, all professional drivers of vehicles requiring a licence valid for groups C and D must comply with the professional competence requirements, in accordance with European Directive No 2003/59/EC.
  • This obligation applies to anyone carrying out professional transport with the mentioned categories (RD 04/05/2007).
