Preparatory asbestos inventory training
On the first day of the asbestos inventory course, you get answers to the questions: what is asbestos, the properties and dangers of asbestos and how to work safely with asbestos. You also learn to recognise the different types of asbestos such as chrysotile or white asbestos. But amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, actinolite, anthophyllite, also known as brown, blue, grey, green or yellow asbestos, are also covered.
On the second day of the asbestos inventory training, you learn the asbestos legislation and basic knowledge of drawing up an inventory in Belgium. The Flemish, Brussels and Walloon legislation on asbestos inventory is also covered, and then we look at carrying out sampling and the step-by-step plan for drawing up the asbestos inventory.
Drawing up an asbestos certificate
On the practical day of the asbestos inventory course, you learn to draw up an asbestos certificate or asbestos inspection. Since 2022, it is mandatory to have an asbestos certificate drawn up by a recognised asbestos inspector when selling a home. A certified asbestos expert will draw up an asbestos inventory for homes built before 2001 and register it with OVAM.
The 3rd day of the asbestos inventory-maker training is a practical day where we practise recognising asbestos by carrying out an asbestos inspection, we put on the asbestos protective clothing, we take asbestos samples and we take a mock exam.
