Welding techniques

Beginners' welding training: learn the most common techniques — stick, MIG/MAG, TIG and oxy-fuel welding — with personal guidance and 100% hands-on practice.

Qualified welders are in high demand!

WHAT DOES THIS WELDING TRAINING COVER?

In this beginners' training we cover the essentials of the most common welding processes: stick (shielded metal arc) welding, MIG/MAG welding, TIG welding and oxy-fuel (autogenous) welding.

You choose the welding process you want to learn yourself. Every participant gets personal guidance.

This training teaches you to weld in a hands-on way.

The demand for qualified welders is higher than ever!

  • Safety and responsibilities
  • Material behaviour
  • Constructions, execution and weld defects
  • Setting up the welding equipment
  • Standardisation and basic symbols
  • Welding positions:
    • Flat welding (PA)
    • Horizontal fillet weld (PB)
    • Horizontal and vertical welding (PC)
  • Application:
    • Steel: stick electrode, MIG/MAG
    • Stainless steel: MIG/MAG, TIG
    • Aluminium: TIG, oxy-fuel

Stick (shielded metal arc) welding

"Electric welding" is a term used mainly informally, among colleagues. It actually refers to shielded metal arc welding, also known locally as stick welding.

MIG/MAG welding

The abbreviations stand for Metal Inert Gas / Metal Active Gas. As the abbreviation suggests, the difference between MIG and MAG mainly relates to the type of gas used in these techniques.

TIG welding

For this form of welding the abbreviation stands for Tungsten Inert Gas. It helps to know that "tungsten" is the metal wolfram, and that arc welding means welding with an electric arc.

Oxy-fuel (autogenous) welding

Oxy-fuel welding is also called gas welding or oxy-acetylene welding. This technique uses a very hot flame.

Frequently asked questions

Which welding techniques do you learn?

You get to know the most common processes: stick (shielded electrode), MIG/MAG, TIG and oxy-fuel welding. You choose which one to focus on.

Do I need prior knowledge?

No, the training starts from the basics. Depending on your experience it takes one to four days.

Do I receive a certificate?

Every participant receives a certificate of attendance. Welding certifications (qualifications) are optional and not included in the price.
