Excavators come in all kinds of tonnages and applications. Besides the well-known crawler excavator, the wheeled excavator, or mini excavator, there are also cranes for specific applications such as the material handling crane, backhoe loader combination or dragline crane.

LEGISLATION
- Mobile work equipment with its own drive may only be operated by workers who have received adequate training for the safe operation of this work equipment (Codex book IV, title 3)
- A safety function is considered to be any workstation where work equipment is used, where motor vehicles, cranes, overhead cranes, hoisting devices of any kind are operated (Codex book I, title 4)
