WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS AV-022 SCAFFOLD INSPECTOR TRAINING?

For the AV-022 scaffold inspector diploma, you have come to the right place at Normec Praxis!

The IS diplomas are essential in the petrochemical industry and port companies.

The training can take place at your premises or in one of our partner centres in Flanders.

The number of training days depends on your experience and competencies.

If you pass, you receive the official AV-022 diploma!

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Identification possible by means of an identity card, passport or driving licence
  • Have a declaration of medical fitness
  • The participant has command of the language of the examinations

TARGET GROUP

Employees who can effectively check the safety of scaffolds (fixed scaffolds, mobile scaffolds, suspended scaffolds, …). The scaffold inspector is deployed by the user/employer at regular intervals to determine whether a scaffold can still be accessed and used safely.

OBJECTIVE

Learning to check scaffolds effectively, to identify defects, to be able to draw up a correct report of the findings and to declare the scaffold safe or not.

The candidate has the necessary knowledge to oversee:

  • The application of measures to prevent persons or objects from falling;
  • The application of safety measures to control risks in changing weather conditions;
  • Compliance with the conditions regarding permissible load.

  • A full training day lasts 7 hours as standard, unless stated otherwise
  • Theoretical introduction (30%) with many practical exercises (70%)
  • Theory examination
  • Practical examination
  • Every participant who passes receives the Besacc-VCA diploma AV-022: scaffold inspector
  • The diploma is personal and states the high-risk task for which the participant has passed
  • The diploma is valid for 10 years and is registered online at http://besacc.epyc.eu/diploma

  • Knowing the dangers and risks of working on a scaffold
  • Naming and describing different types of scaffolds
  • Knowing the different strength classes
  • Legislation and standards
  • Responsibilities of all parties involved
  • Knowing scaffold components, characteristics, requirements, dimensions and rejection criteria
  • types of anchoring
  • Principles of the diagonals
  • Types of beams and their properties
  • Determining the stability of the working platform
  • Describing the loads on the working platform
  • Requirements for scaffold access, passage and barriers
  • Earthing
  • Observation, inspection and use of checklists for different types of scaffolds

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • Observing a standing scaffold for safe/unsafe conditions depending on the circumstances and loads
  • Observing a mobile scaffold for safe/unsafe conditions depending on the circumstances and loads
  • Observing a suspended scaffold for safe/unsafe conditions depending on the circumstances and loads
  • Being able to use checklists for inspection at commissioning and for regular inspections.

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?

“The employer who employs workers who will work on a scaffold ensures that these workers receive training that enables them to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the performance of their tasks. This training relates in particular to:
  • the measures for the prevention of the risks of persons or objects falling
  • the safety measures in changing weather conditions that could adversely affect the safety of the scaffold concerned
  • the conditions regarding permissible load” . (Codex book IV, title 5)
