WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS AV-001 FORKLIFT - BASIC TRAINING?

For the AV-001 forklift - basic diploma you have come to the right place at Normec Praxis!

The IS diplomas are essential in the petrochemical industry and port companies.

The training can take place at your location or in one of our partner centres in Flanders.

The number of training days depends on your experience and competencies.

If you pass, you receive the official AV-001 diploma!

If your sector or client does not require this specific diploma, then follow our standard forklift training or forklift competency test.

Work effectively and safely with the forklift!

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience or not? Every forklift operator is welcome in this training!
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Identification possible by means of an identity card, passport or driving licence
  • Have a declaration of medical fitness
  • The participant masters the language of the examinations
  • Normec Praxis pursues an active equal opportunities policy. Our examinations are open to everyone who meets the conditions, regardless of their gender, skin colour or religion
  • Exempt from the theoretical part if the candidate obtained a valid AV-002 or IS-002 certificate at an accredited centre
  • Examination regulations available on request for in-company trainings

TARGET GROUP

Any employee who has to carry out simple operations with a forklift in a warehouse or in a production environment. Low-difficulty tasks, in an open space, repetitive simple work without time pressure.

OBJECTIVE

GENERAL: learning to work safely and efficiently with the forklift

THIS INVOLVES: learning the basic techniques to:

  • train the drivers to become holders of a safety function and efficient goods handlers who can preventively report defects/malfunctions
  • prevent accidents/injuries, prevent damage to the product, reduce damage caused by transport
  • achieve safe dynamic driving behaviour

NO WORDS, BUT DEEDS!

  • A full training day lasts 7 hours by default, unless stated otherwise
  • One or more days of tailored practical training
  • Much experience (1 day) / little experience (2 days) / no experience (3 to 5 days)
  • Theory exam + practical exam
  • Every successful participant receives the official FORKLIFT certificate
  • The certificate is valid for 5 years and is registered in the Normec Praxis certificate portal
  • Every successful participant receives the Besacc-VCA diploma AV-001: working with a forklift - basic
  • The diploma is personal and states the high-risk task for which the participant passed
  • The diploma is valid for a maximum of 5 years and is registered online at http://besacc.epyc.eu/diploma

THEORY ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • Content of the safety function
  • Interpreting and complying with work permits
  • Knowing the safety regulations
  • Knowing important concepts relating to the construction of the forklift
  • Types of drives and their field of application: electric, diesel, gas
  • Knowing the elements of the start-up check
  • Types of pallets and storage methods
  • Knowing which factors influence the load and stability of the forklift 97
  • Understanding and using load diagrams
  • Basic legislation for a forklift driver: ARAB, Codex, liabilities and responsibilities

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • Applying safety and traffic rules
  • Daily inspection of the forklift
  • Applying the mounting and dismounting technique and parking the truck safely
  • Using the operating controls
  • Being able to connect and disconnect batteries
  • Applying a good driving technique
  • Being able to perform manoeuvres
  • Being able to estimate distances, depth and height
  • Stacking goods in a space with a maximum of 1 metre of clearance on the turning circle
  • Applying order and cleanliness

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?

Mobile work equipment with its own drive may only be operated by workers who have received adequate training for the safe operation of this work equipment (RD 04/05/1999, art 14.1).
A safety function is considered to be any workstation where work equipment is used, where motor vehicles, cranes, overhead cranes, hoisting devices of any kind whatsoever are operated (RD 28/05/2003, art 2).
