WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS IS-005 SELF-PROPELLED AERIAL WORK PLATFORM TRAINING?
For the IS-005 self-propelled aerial work platform diploma you've come to the right place at Normec Praxis!
The IS diplomas are essential in the petrochemical industry and port companies.
Delivery can take place at your location or at one of our partner centres in Flanders.
The number of training days depends on your experience and competencies.
If you pass, you receive the official IS-005 diploma!
If your sector or client does not require this specific diploma, then follow our standard aerial work platform training or aerial work platform competency test.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Experienced or not? Every aerial work platform operator is welcome in this training!
- Be at least 18 years old
- Identification possible by means of an identity card, passport or driving licence
- Have a certificate of medical fitness
- The participant has command of the language of the examinations

TARGET GROUP
Employees who have to work with an aerial work platform on a company site, in installations, workshops, warehouses. Moving around and carrying out work at height using a self-propelled aerial work platform with an articulated or telescopic boom.
For employees working in the (petro)chemical industry, this examination must be taken at an accredited centre.
OBJECTIVE
Learn to operate a self-propelled aerial work platform in an effective and safe manner to:
- Move it in an industrial environment
- Set it up
- Move it to a higher location
- Carry out work at height
- Operate the emergency controls
ACTIONS, NOT WORDS!
- A full training day lasts 7 hours by default, unless stated otherwise
- One or more days of tailored practical training
- A lot of experience (1 day) / little experience (2 days) / no experience (3 to 5 days)
- Theory exam + practical exam
- Every successful participant receives the official AERIAL WORK PLATFORM certificate
- The certificate is valid for 5 years and is registered in the Normec Praxis certificate portal
- Every successful participant receives the Besacc-VCA diploma IS-005: working with a self-propelled aerial work platform
- The diploma is personal and states the high-risk task for which the participant has passed
- The diploma is valid for 5 years and is registered online at http://besacc.epyc.eu/diploma
THEORY ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
The candidate can:
- Explain what an aerial work platform is
- Name the tasks for which an aerial work platform can be used
- Identify different types of aerial work platforms and their limitations
- Name different lifting and boom systems
- Name different types of drives with their applications
- Name different control modes
- Correctly interpret the basic regulations regarding the use of an aerial work platform
- Correctly interpret the safety instructions
- Name the environmental risks and the relevant safety measures
- Explain the influence and dangers of lateral loads
- Carry out a last minute risk analysis (LMRA)
- Describe the concepts relating to the control devices
- Name the component parts of the work platform
- Explain the meaning of the pictograms on an aerial work platform
- Explain the structure of the lifting parts and the order of operation
- Explain the concepts relating to stability
- Name the components of the start-up check
PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
- Perform the start-up check (checklist)
- Raise the aerial work platform to maximum height and drive it a few metres.
- Drive forwards and backwards through a narrow passage
- Perform a slalom forwards and backwards
- Position the aerial work platform at an angle to an object at height and approach the object
- Approach an object at height behind an upright obstacle
- Park the aerial work platform safely and charge the traction battery or refuel, respectively

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?
Mobile work equipment with their own propulsion may only be operated by workers who have received adequate training for the safe operation of this work equipment (Codex book IV, title 3)
Regarded as a safety function is every workstation where work equipment is used, where motor vehicles, cranes, overhead cranes, lifting devices of any kind are operated (Codex book I, title 4)
