WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS IS-011 OVERHEAD CRANE TRAINING?

For the IS-011 overhead crane diploma, Normec Praxis is the right place for you!

The IS diplomas are essential in the petrochemical industry and port companies.

Delivery can take place at your premises or in one of our partner centres in Flanders.

The number of training days depends on your experience and competencies.

If you pass, you receive the official IS-011 diploma!

If your sector or client does not require this specific diploma, then take our standard overhead crane training or overhead crane certification.

The goal of this training is to operate effectively and safely an overhead crane with cable control or remote control!

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experienced or not? Every overhead crane operator is welcome in this training!
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Identification possible by means of an identity card, passport or driving licence
  • Have a medical fitness certificate
  • The participant masters the language of the examinations

TARGET GROUP

Overhead crane operators who work with an overhead crane with cable control and/or remote control.

OBJECTIVE

To work correctly, responsibly and safely with an overhead crane with cable control and/or remote control.

  • Holding a safety function
  • Operating the machine efficiently
  • Being able to report defects and malfunctions preventively
  • Preventing accidents and injuries
  • Preventing damage to products and reducing damage caused by transport
  • Working safely and dynamically

NO WORDS, BUT DEEDS!

  • A full day of training lasts 7 hours by default, unless otherwise stated
  • One or more days of tailored practical training
  • Much experience (1 day) / little experience (2 days) / no experience (3 to 5 days)
  • Theory exam + practical exam
  • Every participant who passes receives the official OVERHEAD CRANE certificate
  • The certificate is valid for 5 years and is registered in the Normec Praxis certificate portal
  • Every participant who passes receives the Besacc-VCA diploma IS-011: working with an overhead crane with cable or remote control
  • This exam also integrates the assessment terms and points of attention of AV-004 - Slinging and directing non-critical loads geïntegreerd
  • The diploma is personal and states the high-risk task for which the participant passed
  • The diploma is valid for 5 years and is registered online at http://besacc.epyc.eu/diploma

THEORY ASSESSMENT TERMS

  • Knowing the content of the safety function
  • Knowing what work permits are and being able to interpret and comply with them
  • Knowing the basic legislation for an overhead crane operator
  • Knowing the inspection requirements for lifting equipment and slinging material
  • Being able to identify, analyse and check the risks specific to machines and the workspace
  • Knowing the safety instructions
  • Knowing the important concepts regarding the construction and functions of the overhead crane
  • Knowing that there are different types of overhead cranes, with their field of application
  • Knowing the points of attention for safe load handling
  • Knowing the slinging material and lifting accessories
  • Knowing how to store these materials correctly
  • Knowing that interchangeable slinging material exists
  • Knowing that there are different slinging methods
  • Knowing the elements that make up the visual inspection
  • Knowing what a good lift is: determining the weight, centre of gravity, slinging angle and slinging configuration
  • Use of protective equipment
  • Knowing how to signal when working with two people

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT TERMS

  • Applying the safety rules and being able to work accurately
  • Being able to carry out and report the daily inspection of the overhead crane
  • Being able to use the control device correctly
  • Being able to respect the working height
  • Being able to sling loads correctly
  • Being able to dampen and avoid the swinging movement
  • Applying hand signals
  • Being able to complete a flawless course (vertical, horizontal and combined movements)
  • Being able to manoeuvre with various loads
  • Being able to turn loads over
  • Being able to avoid negative loading (transverse loading, skewing)
  • Being able to estimate distances (vertically and horizontally)
  • Being able to park the crane in the right way

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?

Mobile work equipment with its own drive system may only be operated by workers who have received adequate training in the safe operation of this work equipment (Codex book IV, title 3)
Considered as a safety function is any workstation where work equipment is used, where motor vehicles, cranes, overhead cranes, hoisting devices of any kind are operated (Codex book I, title 4)
The purpose of the safety and health signage is to draw attention quickly and in an easily understandable way to objects, activities and situations that may cause certain hazards. (Codex book III, title 6, annexes 1-9)
