WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS IS-002 REACH TRUCK TRAINING?

For the diploma IS-002 reach truck advanced, you've come to the right place at Normec Praxis!

The IS diplomas are essential in the petrochemical industry and port companies.

Delivery can take place at your premises or in one of our partner centres in Flanders.

The number of training days depends on your experience and competencies.

If you pass, you receive the official IS-002 diploma!

If your sector or client does not require this specific diploma, then follow our standard reach truck training or reach truck competency test.

The goal of this training is to work effectively and safely with the reach truckwerken.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience or not? Every reach truck driver is welcome in this training!
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Identification possible by means of an identity card, passport or driving licence
  • Have a certificate of medical fitness
  • The participant has command of the language of the exams
  • Normec Praxis pursues an active equal-opportunities policy. Our exams are open to everyone who meets the conditions, regardless of their gender, skin colour or religion
  • You are exempt from the theoretical part if you have previously obtained a valid diploma IS-001 - Working with a forklift advanced behaalde
  • Examination regulations available on request for in-company trainings

TARGET GROUP

Every employee whose main task is to work with a reach truck. Where the tasks have a certain degree of difficulty, such as:

  • Stacking at height
  • Driving and stacking in a confined space
  • Under time pressure
  • Intensive loading and unloading
  • In places with traffic of people and/or other means of transport

For employees who work in the (petro)chemical industry, this exam must be taken in an accredited centre.

GOAL

Learn to work safely and efficiently with the reach truck.

  • Holding a safety function
  • Handle goods efficiently
  • Be able to report defects and malfunctions preventively
  • Prevent accidents and injuries
  • Prevent damage to products and reduce damage caused by transport
  • Achieve a balance between safe driving behaviour and productivity

ACTIONS, NOT WORDS!

  • A full day of training lasts 7 hours by default, unless stated otherwise
  • A lot of experience (1 day) / little experience (2 days) / no experience (3 to 5 days)
  • Theory exam + practical exam
  • Every successful participant receives the official REACH TRUCK certificate
  • The certificate is valid for 5 years and is registered in the Normec Praxis certificate portal
  • Every successful participant receives the Besacc-VCA diploma IS-002: working with a reach truck advanced
  • The diploma is personal and states the high-risk task for which the participant passed
  • The diploma is valid for 5 years and is registered online at http://besacc.epyc.eu/diploma

THEORY ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

The candidate knows:

  • The content of the safety function
  • What work permits are and can interpret and comply with them
  • What the safety regulations are
  • Important concepts regarding the construction of the reach truck
  • That there are different types of reach truck and their field of application
  • How batteries can be replaced
  • The elements that make up the start-up check
  • That there are different types of pallets and storage methods
  • Which factors influence the load and the stability of the truck
  • How to use load diagrams
  • Identify, analyse and control the risks inherent to the equipment and the space
  • The basic legislation for a reach truck driver

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • Applying the safety and traffic rules: defensive driving, interaction with people and other drivers
  • Be able to correctly perform the daily inspection of the truck, recognise dangerous defects, and report them
  • Apply the correct getting on and off technique and park the truck safely
  • Be able to use the controls correctly
  • Be able to connect and disconnect batteries
  • Use a good driving technique: forward, backward
  • Be able to perform the following manoeuvres: turning and cornering forward and backward, passing through very narrow passages
  • Be able to estimate distances, depth and height
  • Stacking goods in a space with a maximum of 1/2 metre of clearance on the turning circle, without using the shide-shift
  • Be able to stack correctly at ground locations, in racks and at height and according to the capacity of the reach truck
  • Stacking with various systems such as gitterbox, crates and individual stacking systems
  • Apply order and cleanliness
  • Be able to transport long, high and bulky loads

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?

Mobile work equipment with their own drive may only be operated by workers who have received adequate training for the safe operation of this work equipment (Codex book IV, title 3)
As a safety function is regarded any workstation where work equipment is used, where motor vehicles, cranes, overhead cranes, lifting devices of any kind are operated (Codex book I, title 4)
