WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS AV-002 REACH TRUCK TRAINING?

For the AV-002 advanced reach truck diploma, you have come to the right place at Normec Praxis!

The IS and AV diplomas are essential in the petrochemical industry and port companies.

The training can take place at your premises or in one of our partner centres in Flanders.

The number of training days depends on your experience and competences.

If you pass, you receive the official AV-002 diploma!

If your sector or client does not require this specific diploma, then follow our standard reach truck training or reach truck competence test.

The goal of this training is to work effectively and safely with the reach truckwerken.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience or not? Every reach truck operator is welcome in this training!
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Identification possible by means of an identity card, passport or driving licence
  • Have a declaration of medical fitness
  • The participant masters the language of the examinations
  • Normec Praxis pursues an active equal opportunities policy. Our examinations are open to everyone who meets the conditions, regardless of their gender, skin colour or religion
  • You are exempt from the theoretical part if you previously obtained a valid diploma IS-001 - Working with a forklift advanced or AV-001 - Working with a forklift basic
  • Examination regulations available on request for in-company training

TARGET GROUP

Every employee who has to carry out simple operations with a reach truck in a warehouse or a production environment (low-difficulty tasks, in an open space, repetitive simple work without time pressure). For employees who work in the (petro)chemical industry, this examination must be taken in an accredited centre.

OBJECTIVE

Learning to work safely and efficiently with the reach truck.

  • Occupying a safety function
  • Handling goods efficiently
  • Being able to preventively report defects and malfunctions
  • Preventing accidents and injuries
  • Preventing damage to products and reducing damage caused by transport
  • Achieving a balance between safe driving behaviour and productivity

NO WORDS, BUT ACTIONS!

  • A full training day lasts 7 hours by default, unless otherwise stated
  • One or more days of tailored practical training
  • A lot of experience (1 day) / little experience (2 days) / no experience (3 to 5 days)
  • Theory exam + practical exam
  • Every participant who passes receives the official REACH TRUCK certificate
  • The certificate is valid for 5 years and is registered in the Normec Praxis certificate portal
  • Every participant who passes receives the Besacc-VCA diploma AV-002: working with a reach truck basic
  • The diploma is personal and mentions the high-risk task for which the participant passed
  • The diploma is valid for 5 years and is registered online at http://besacc.epyc.eu/diploma

THEORY ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

The candidate knows:

  • The content of the safety function
  • What work permits are and can interpret and comply with them
  • What the safety regulations are
  • Important concepts regarding the construction of the reach truck
  • That there are different types of reach truck and their field of application
  • How batteries can be changed
  • The elements that make up the start-up check
  • That there are different kinds of pallets and storage methods
  • Which factors influence the load and the stability of the truck
  • How to use load diagrams
  • The basic legislation for a reach truck operator

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • Applying the safety and traffic rules: defensive driving, interaction with people and other drivers
  • Being able to correctly carry out the daily inspection of the truck, recognising dangerous defects and reporting them
  • Applying the correct mounting and dismounting technique and parking the truck safely
  • Being able to use the operating controls correctly
  • Being able to connect and disconnect batteries
  • Using a good driving technique: forwards, backwards
  • Being able to carry out the following manoeuvres: turning behaviour and cornering forwards and backwards, passing through very narrow passages
  • Being able to estimate distances, depth and height
  • Stacking goods in a space with a maximum of 1 metre of clearance on the turning circle
  • Being able to place pallets at ground locations and work at a height of at least 3 metres
  • Applying order and tidiness

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?

Mobile work equipment with its own drive may only be operated by workers who have received adequate training for the safe operation of this work equipment (Codex book IV, title 3)
